Consider the blank canvas
like God did.
Nothing but nothing.
Barely an idea.
Just a belief that what would be made
would be good.
First, darkness separated –
not removed, just put over there
so we could still learn from it.
What is a holy yin
without a holy yang?
We need both.
But the light was revealed
and it illuminated the blank space
where everything was put.
Plants, fish, animals
mountains, rivers, oceans
vast plains of ground for us
to fill in with the things we do.
Where there is darkness
you will supply the light.
Fill in the space with
your brushstrokes, your words
your dance, your music
your artist’s sensibility.
You are the light and
you are so very good.
