Re'eh — see

I see two mountains.
One is a good mountain
and one is bad.

It used to be obvious
which was which.
Now it’s still obvious

but only if you agree.
No one agrees.
I hardly know where

to shout my curses
and blessings anymore
No one has ears.

I see the mountains
on the TV. They are loud.
They are the loudest thing.

I see the mountains
holding signs that
say opposite things.

These mountains
do not speak at
family dinner.

These mountains
could use some
mountains counseling.

These mountains are
not ready to join hands
across the river.

I see them.
I’ll keep looking until
they tell me what to do.
